COOKIES!

Donnie and his brothers (and their kids) decorate sugar cookies each year. This is a competition people. It's cut throat! Donnie has several wins under his belt but this year Kelsey took home the first prize. Donnie did come in second and fourth.

Molasses Crinkles

This is the only cookie I make that is good enough to share with others.  They are super soft and chewy.  Try them for yourself!

Preheat oven 375

1 cup sugar (I used brown sugar maybe try 1/2 & 1/2?)
3/4 cup butter
1/4 dark molasses
1 egg

Dry ingredients (stir together well!)
2 1/4 cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinn
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt

Mix first 4 together until smooth
Add dry ingredients mix well, chill (maybe an hour)
Form into balls and roll in sugar

Bake at 375 for 8-10 mins remove from pan quickly

Don't forget to have something to wash them down with.

National Adoption Day

This year my birthday falls on a very important day.  National Adoption Day.  This is a day to reflect on how adoption has touched all of us in one way or another.  For us adoption is how we were meant to build our family.  Donnie and I were chosen for Nay and Mar.  Their birth mothers picked us to love and care for their children.  Now their birth mothers are just an extend part of our family.  We have a very big family!  The girls have so many people that love them, it's a wonderful feeling.  So today think about your friends that are adopted, the birth parents that have placed their children, and the families that have opened their homes to a child in need.  There are over 200 waiting children in Nebraska.   Pray for them today.

I have spent the last month trying to explain the voting process to Ava.  I think she gets it for the most part.  She watched me fill out my ballot then drop it off.  I told her who was running and showed her pictures.  I asked her who she would vote for she said Obama when I asked why she said "because he is brown like me".  Yeah.  Well that is not how you choose our next president but I guess at 4 that is the only thing she can identify with.  I told her this morning that Obama will be our new president.  Yea! she said I voted right.  I then asked her if she knew who our old president was.  She said John McCain? 

Maybe the next election will be easier to explain.

Looking back

This was Ava on her first birthday.  How did I get such cute babies!?  Ava did not like to get messy.  Amari makes up for that now.

First off this is my 200th post!  Wow who knew I had so much to say.

Second.  Sunday was Miss Mars first birthday celebration.  We partied on Saturday with some friends and family.  Sunday we had brunch with Mar's birth family.  (I will post more on that later)  Mari made out like a bandit.  She got lots of clothes (thank goodness) and 15 pairs of socks!  I was so happy.   She only had 2 pairs that fit.  She got some super cute shoes and a hat.  He birthmother Adrianne MADE her a scarf.  TOOOO cute.  This time around the cake not only looked cute it tasted good too.  Donnie did a great job with Hello Kitty.

Monday we had Amari's 1 year check up.  29 inches long and 23 lbs that is down 2 lbs from last time.  Not bad.  She got 4 shots and blood drawn and cried for only a minute (I cried a little bit longer).  

Now it's all over and it's time to start thinking about me.  My birthday is coming up on Nov 15th.  There will be a party.  The last one.  No I'm not dying.  I just don't know why I should acknowledge another birthday after this one.  I'll be 29 forever, just like my mom.  

Silly girls

I just today found out that my computer can take photo booth type photos. Ava was having a blast watching herself on the big screen. Amari was not as impressed. I think we will have many many more of these to share in the coming weeks!

Oh and today is Amari's first birthday. I hope to have the HUGE long blog post of all things birthday tomorrow.

This is how you hug someone who is shorter than you are. I'm sure this is what the girls will have to do to us when they are older.

Many Hats

While shopping at Nobbies for the perfect Halloween costume the girls took turns trying on silly hats. I was very close to getting Mar the full clown costume, shoes and all. Maybe next year when she can walk a little better? Yeah she is walking now she’s just a little wobbly, and climbing the stairs and getting into the toilet, dumping out the trash. It’s as if someone snatched my sweet little girl and replaced her with an ornery boy! UGH!

Set it free

It seem most of our summer has been spent collecting caterpillars and watching them grow (or accidently stepping on them). The most recent captive was a pretty black and yellow stripped caterpillar with long antenna. He didn’t move for a long time then all of a sudden we had a cocoon at the top of the cage. This morning Donnie noticed the butterfly! We were so excited because the others this summer had all been (ugly) moths. We took him outside and watched him spread his wings. He hung out on my Hibiscus tree (oh yes it’s still alive and it bloomed!) for a bit then he left us. What a lovely way to begin this fall season.

Last weekend my friend Geoff shot some images of the girls.  Normally he is a wonderful commercial photographer and talented wedding photographer (he shot our wedding almost 8 years ago) but on Saturday he donated his time for kids.  All proceeds from the Kids Day photo shoot went to Operation Smile.  He has posted a few of the girls on his blog.  Check them out.  When I get the others I will post them.  Enjoy!

Birthday suit

On another birthday note… Miss Mar’s first birthday is next month. We will of course have a SMALL party for her to celebrate but I can not seem to come up with a theme. Miss Nay’s first birthday was a springy theme with Gerber daisies and all things pink. I don’t know what to do for Miss Mar. She loves the cats and eating things she finds on the floor. She also finds great pleasure in biting my lower lip (or cheek) and laughing out loud at me when I tell her no. You can see I don’t have a lot to go on here. Oh she has recently discovered the musical stylings of the Jonas Brothers. I think it’s the hair? So give me your suggestions. What should the theme of Mar’s party be?

34!

Yesterday was Donnie’s 34th birthday. It was a very busy weekend for me I had several photo shoots and parties to attend. I had planned to make a cool double decker husker cake but Sunday night I was so tired from shooting a wedding all day I just didn’t have it in me to make something spectacular. So instead of cool Donnie got crap. The red velvet cake was tasty but looked like crap. Sorry Donnie I owe you.

Growing Pains

Starting a business is not easy no matter how small it is.  My photography is coming along nicely, I have evolved a little and look forward to growing my talent and business even more.  For now I will remain who I am.  Tiffany Love Photography.  Not Infinity Images.  I know what you are thinking but I think I should wait until I can afford a big studio before I have a separate business name.  Frankly it's a little easier this way for tax purposes.  So with that being said I give you the new blog for

Preschool!

Today was the first day of preschool. 3 hours a day, EVERYDAY preschool! I love Miss Nay but sometimes I love quiet. Today I had quiet. Miss Mar even took a nap. I am blessed. :)

OMG!

There are few things that I get giddy about but This is the coolest thing EVER! The D90 is now the number 1 thing on my wish list! Happy birthday to me! Right Donnie?
