Vacation to Colorado
Wednesday at 0145 hours (that’s 1:45 am) we left for Colorado. Donnie had done hours of researching and planning and now we were about to embark on our first real vacation with 2 kids. Driving while the girls slept worked out well. When they were awake there seemed to be a lot of high-pitched whining and the need for constant entertainment. I don’t think it is any surprise that I HATE driving in the car. If it is more than an hour I get antsy. This is not easy on Donnie or the girls because I just become annoyed if I can’t sleep.
We spent the first day in Frisco CO, which was very cool! We went to the top of Mt. Evans and nearly puked. I don’t think any of us was ready for the altitude change.
The next day we went to Rocky MT National Park (RMNP). Where again the walk from the car to the visitor’s center proved to be too much. At the end of the day we stayed in Estes Park where we did a lot of shopping and eating. The Donut Haus is THE best I have ever had.
Day three was spent in Boulder with my baby brother Miles. He showed us around and we spent the majority of our time on Pearl Street. We ate sushi, shopped, drank, and even made it down to Boulder falls. Boulder is definitely a cool city!
The next morning we left at 10am so we could get home to survey the damage to our neighborhood. A bad storm came through Omaha on Friday evening. We missed it and it missed our house barely. Our street lost about a dozen of the biggest oldest trees. That is for another post. All in all we had a great vacation. I can’t wait for next years!

Mike and I loooove Boulder! We have not been there since we had kids, but I am so ready to go back. I also loved Estes Park, but missed out on the Donut Haus. :(
Yes, Pearl Street is very cool and we walked miles and miles on Boulder Creek path.
